Not much is known about this man, not even his name. What is known, however, is that he is a rather quiet person, especially since he has no pets, significant other, or children to speak of. He is also polite and a bit shy when dealing with people. He is always seen in a suit and tie, yet at the same time with a bit of bed-head, and is a bit unsure of how to approach people he has to interact with. When he is first seen in the record store, he has no problem sharing a listening station with a complete stranger, but, later on, when he is a business situation, he seems a bit nervous and unsure of how to act and what to say. This could also be because, despite his living in France, he is an American. While is only seen twice, his character plays a crucial role to the film. He is the catalyst for, the main character, Gabrielle’s consideration of committing adultery, instead of simply speculating about her husband’s affair.
